10) Ownership, access, and exit strategy (non-negotiable)
Assume you will eventually transition maintenance in-house or to another firm, even if you never do. Your contract and delivery practices should make that painless.
Ask:
Do we own the code and IP upon payment?
Will we have admin access to repos, hosting, domains, and third-party accounts?
What documentation is delivered (runbooks, setup, architecture notes)?
