Picture a Spokane Valley homeowner asking ChatGPT for a reliable roofer. The assistant names two or three businesses and moves on. The rest never appear.
That is the shift behind answer engine optimization, or AEO. It structures a business's site, profiles, and reviews so AI tools can quote it with confidence.
Spokane is a good place to try it early. The city has 230,783 residents, and 91.9 percent of households have broadband.
This list profiles five agencies that offer AI search work to Spokane businesses. Four have Spokane-area addresses, and one serves the region remotely.
We checked agency websites, Clutch profiles, and published prices. Ravenna is our company, and we flag it plainly.
Several well-known Spokane shops list no AI search service at all. So we kept only agencies that name AI visibility, GEO, or AEO work somewhere we could verify.
Spokane's AEO agencies at a glance
Ravenna is a Bothell consultancy that sells AEO as a named retainer and works with Spokane clients remotely. August SEO is a Spokane Valley specialist with a dedicated AI Search Optimization service. Enleaf is a Spokane firm whose founder has written a book on becoming the brand AI recommends.
Zipline B2B Marketing is a Spokane demand-generation shop whose Clutch reviews mention SEO and GEO work. Firegang Dental Marketing builds AI search optimization into its dental growth program. Each one suits a different kind of buyer.
| Agency | Starting Price | Best For | Key Differentiator | Free Trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ravenna | $750/mo (up to $2,500) | Local service businesses that want AEO tied to site fixes | Hand-written schema and a four-phase audit-to-monitor process | Free AI visibility audit |
| August SEO | Not published (no contract, no setup fee) | Spokane and Spokane Valley small businesses | Owner reviews each site personally, plus an AI visibility check | Free scan and AI visibility check |
| Enleaf | Not published (FAQ cites $500–$1,200/mo SEO retainers) | Brands wanting an author-led view of AI search | Founder's book and blog posts on AI answer engines | Not stated |
| Zipline B2B Marketing | Not published ($150–$199/hr, $5,000+ minimum on Clutch) | B2B and manufacturing firms | SEO and GEO inside a B2B demand-generation program | Not stated |
| Firegang Dental Marketing | Not published | Dental practices | AI search optimization inside the Practice 360 program | Free Practice Growth call |
Prices come from each agency's own site or Clutch profile. Where a firm publishes nothing, the table says so.
What AEO changes for Spokane businesses
Traditional SEO ranks your page in a list. AEO aims to get your business named inside the answer. The two share a foundation, so a clean site and strong reviews help both.
What changes is the format. AI tools favor short, direct answers, consistent business details, and third-party mentions. If your Google Business Profile, website, and directory listings disagree, an AI engine has little reason to trust you.
For a plain-English primer, read Ravenna's explainer on answer engine optimization. It covers which AI platforms matter and how they pick sources.
Spokane's market adds a twist. The city is mid-sized, and its trades and clinics often compete with a small set of rivals. An early, well-structured presence can claim a slot that a bigger Seattle firm has not bothered to target.
How to vet a Spokane AEO agency
Start with proof you can test. Ask the agency to show a prompt where a client was absent and a prompt where it now appears. Then run both prompts yourself.
Check the technical basics. Google's LocalBusiness structured data guide lists address and name as the required properties.
It also says Google does not guarantee that markup will produce a search feature. Treat any agency that promises otherwise with caution.
Ask about llms.txt as well. It is a proposed convention from Jeremy Howard, first published on September 3, 2024. It is a cheap extra, not a proven ranking lever.
Finally, apply the same vetting you would use for any local agency. Our guide to choosing a Spokane agency covers references, reporting, and account ownership. Those basics matter just as much for AI work.
1. Ravenna: AEO from engineers who also build the site
Heads up: Ravenna is ours, so we are not neutral. We kept it because the fit is real, and we applied the same checks to every agency.
Ravenna is a Bothell, WA consultancy formed in 2007. It builds Laravel and Statamic platforms, and it now sells answer engine optimization to local service businesses. Spokane is one of its four named markets, alongside Seattle, Everett, and Tacoma.
The service runs in four phases. An audit asks ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews what they say about your business. Engineers then add schema, restructure key pages, and fix speed and crawl problems.
The team builds citations and reviews next. It then monitors AI mentions every month.
Why it stands out
Ravenna's schema is hand-written, not generated by a plugin. The same team that writes the code also plans the content, so fixes ship without a handoff. Its AEO page says "if we can't measure it, we don't sell it."
The retainer also covers "near me" AI answers, which matter for Spokane trades. For more on writing for Google and AI engines, see Ravenna's guide to content that ranks in both.
Ravenna also publishes two free Statamic add-ons. One tracks AI bot visits, and the LLMS.txt Generator builds an llms.txt file. Both signal real interest in this field.
Strengths and gaps
The strengths are depth and accountability. Monthly reports cover whether you are mentioned, how you are described, which sources drove the answer, and which leads followed.
The gaps are scale and proof. The team is small, with no Spokane office, so work is remote. Its published AEO evidence leans on one testimonial, not a dashboard of before-and-after metrics.
Clutch lists a 4.9 rating from four verified reviews. That is credible, but it is a small base.
Plans and pricing
AEO retainers run $750 to $2,500 a month, depending on your market and how much foundation work the site needs. Many clients bundle AEO with local SEO at a combined rate. Every engagement starts with a free AI visibility audit.
Ravenna's local SEO retainers are month to month. Its AEO page does not state contract length, so confirm terms before you sign. Separate engineering work runs $150 to $199 an hour with a $5,000 project minimum.
Who uses it
The clearest local proof is Sun Mountain Lodge, a Washington resort. Ravenna rebuilt its WordPress theme and raised Lighthouse speed to 91 from the 60s.
Plugins fell from more than 20 to the essentials. A marketing manager called the team "professional and very knowledgeable about web design, app design, and SEO."
Ravenna's Amazon and Blue Origin work was software and web development, not AEO. Treat those names as proof of engineering depth only.
2. August SEO: A Spokane Valley specialist with a dedicated AI service
August SEO is a Spokane Valley firm led by Kevin August, who has more than 21 years of experience. It lists five services, and AI Search Optimization is one of them. The firm serves Spokane and Spokane Valley.
It also runs a separate web studio called Spokane Web Design. A newer AI consulting brand launched in 2026. The same owner stands behind all three.
Why it stands out
The AI service is built around being quoted. August SEO writes pages that answer buyer questions in quotable form. It fixes conflicting listing details and checks that nothing blocks AI tools from reading the site.
The process is simple. You send the site address, and Kevin reviews it personally.
You get an email with a clear answer within a business day. Then you agree on the first moves, ordered by payoff.
A "Check my AI visibility" tool lets you test your own business first. The firm says it checks what AI tools say about you before work starts and again as things change.
Strengths and gaps
The strength is directness. The person you speak with is the person doing the work. The firm also says plainly that AI referrals are still a small share of traffic compared with Google.
The gaps are scope and detail. The AI page does not mention schema or llms.txt, and it lists no prices. A one-owner shop also has limited capacity, and the firm keeps a limited client list.
One business appeared in ChatGPT answers "within weeks" of fixing its facts. Others took "a few months." Those results are self-reported.
Plans and pricing
August SEO does not list prices. Its terms are month to month, with no contract, no setup fee, and no cancellation fee. The free scan and analysis cost nothing.
Ask for a written scope after Kevin's review. Confirm what the monthly fee includes before you agree to the first moves.
Who uses it
Clients include H&H Molds, Ferrante's Cafe, Cycrest Systems, Avenue29, and Alpine Auto Glass.
Its published case studies show organic sessions rising from 0 to 1,109 for Ferrante's Cafe. H&H Molds grew from 135 to 400, and Cycrest Systems from 106 to 929. Those figures are self-reported.
The firm holds a 4.8 Google rating from 16 reviews. Reviewers call Kevin "a true pro" and say he is attentive.
3. Enleaf: Spokane's author-led voice on AI search
Enleaf is a Spokane agency that says it has operated since 2009. It also lists a satellite office in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Founder Adam Chronister leads the firm.
Its core services are web design, PPC, SEO, and branding. AI search shows up in its thought leadership more than in a named product. The homepage does not use the terms AEO or GEO.
Why it stands out
Enleaf's site says Chronister wrote Authority Engineering: How to Become the Brand AI Recommends. The book describes a framework that covers AI systems, search engines, and customers. That is a distinctive credential among local agencies.
The blog backs it up with specific posts. Titles include "How to Rank in ChatGPT, AI Overviews, and Other AI Answer Engines" from November 2025. Others cover llms.txt, AI Mode in Search Console, and AI visibility tracking.
Strengths and gaps
The strength is expertise you can read before you hire. A buyer can judge the firm's thinking from its public posts. Many testimonials praise communication and responsiveness.
The gap is documented AI results. We found no case study on the pages we reviewed that shows a client's AI citations rising. Its awards, such as Best in B2B Gold and a Top 10 PNW Agency listing, are self-published.
Plans and pricing
Enleaf does not publish its own rates. Its FAQ gives general market ranges instead. It cites SEO at $2,500 to $5,000 per project, or $500 to $1,200 a month on retainer.
The page says exact costs require a consultation.
Treat those ranges as context, not a quote. Ask what an AI-focused engagement would add.
Who uses it
The site lists results for Stay Alfred, Kasa, Dallas Fort Worth Airport, Theradome, and Credit Card Counseling Society. Examples include bookings up 65 percent for Kasa and organic traffic up 98 percent for Credit Card Counseling Society. All are self-reported.
The Expertise.com directory lists Enleaf with a 4.9 Google rating from 34 reviews.
4. Zipline B2B Marketing: SEO and GEO for B2B buyers
Zipline B2B Marketing is headquartered in Spokane and was formed in 2005. It also has offices in Seattle, Chicago, Portland, and Boise. Clutch lists 10 to 49 employees.
The firm focuses on B2B demand generation. Its Clutch profile splits services evenly between SEO and advertising. Generative engine optimization appears as 10 percent of its SEO focus.
Why it stands out
The AI proof comes from clients, not from Zipline's own site. One welding machine manufacturer reported ongoing SEO and AEO work that generates sales leads. A marketing consultant described a monthly SEO and GEO program that increased AI visibility for clients.
That focus on B2B is rare in Spokane. Industrial and manufacturing buyers research across many sessions, often starting with an AI assistant. Zipline's content work targets that longer path.
Strengths and gaps
Reviewers describe Zipline as "a trusted extension of our marketing team." They also praise its schedule reliability. One reviewer noted that content optimization recommendations can sometimes be grammatically incorrect.
The main gap is visibility. Zipline's own homepage does not mention GEO, AEO, or AI visibility. Ask the team to explain its AI method in detail before you sign.
Plans and pricing
Zipline does not publish prices. Clutch lists $150 to $199 an hour and a $5,000 minimum project. That points to custom scoping.
Who uses it
Clutch shows 55 percent of clients are midmarket, 30 percent are small businesses, and 15 percent are enterprise. Top industries are business services, consumer products, and manufacturing. The firm holds a 4.8 rating from five Clutch reviews.
5. Firegang Dental Marketing: AI search built for dentists
Firegang Dental Marketing works from downtown Spokane and serves dental practices only. Adam Zilko is its founder and CEO. Its flagship offering is the Practice 360 program.
AI search optimization is built into that program, not sold alone. The firm's site lists a dedicated page for it. That makes Firegang the only vertical specialist on this list.
Why it stands out
Firegang defines AEO and GEO in dental terms. AEO means rewriting content to answer patient questions, such as how much a treatment costs and how long it takes. GEO means building trust signals, such as consistent business details, strong reviews, and expert content.
Its six-step process adds schema for the practice name, address, doctors, specialties, and ratings. FAQ sections get schema too. It also manages the Google Business Profile and publishes monthly local content.
Strengths and gaps
The strength is focus. A dental practice gets a team that already knows patient questions and review patterns. Firegang says Google Business Profile reviews are among the biggest signals AI tools use.
The gaps are narrow scope and thin independent proof. The firm serves only dentists, so other businesses should look elsewhere. Clutch shows no reviews yet, and the case results on its site are self-reported.
Plans and pricing
Firegang does not publish prices. It directs visitors to book a free Practice Growth call. Clutch lists a $1,000 minimum project.
The firm says some gains, such as AI Overview citations, can begin within weeks. Sustained visibility typically takes months.
Who uses it
Named clients on its site include Family Dental of Spokane Valley and Pier 210 Dental Group. A doctor from Pier 210 said, "our new patient flow is up 50%." That figure covers patient flow generally, not AI visibility alone.
Questions Spokane business owners ask
How is AEO different from local SEO?
Local SEO targets the Map Pack and "near me" results. AEO targets answers inside ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and AI Overviews. The work overlaps, so many agencies bundle them.
How much does AEO cost in Spokane?
Only Ravenna publishes an AEO range, at $750 to $2,500 a month. Others quote after a call.
Clutch shows Zipline at $150 to $199 an hour. Enleaf's FAQ cites $500 to $1,200 a month for general SEO.
How long does it take to appear in AI answers?
August SEO says one client appeared in ChatGPT within weeks, while others took a few months. Ravenna says 90 to 180 days for meaningful movement. Treat any promise of instant results with caution.
Do I need a Spokane-based agency?
Not always. AI engines are not tied to a city, and Ravenna works remotely. Still, local agencies may know Spokane's competitors and directories better.
Do I need a new website to start?
Usually not. Ravenna says a rebuild is not normally required, and its audit shows whether the current site is holding results back. August SEO and Firegang also describe fixing content, schema, and business details on existing sites.
What does an AI visibility check show?
It shows whether AI tools mention your business, how they describe it, and which sources they cite. Ravenna's audit covers ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and AI Overviews. August SEO offers a self-serve check on its site.
What should I do before I hire anyone?
Test your own visibility first. Ask several AI tools for recommendations in your category, and note who appears.
Fix wrong business details across your profile and directories. Those steps give you a baseline for any proposal.
Which Spokane AEO agency should you hire?
A local service business that wants AEO tied to site fixes should start with Ravenna. Hand-written schema and a free audit lower the risk. A small Spokane or Spokane Valley business that wants direct access to one expert should look at August SEO.
A brand that values an author-led view of AI search should read Enleaf's posts and book a call. A B2B or manufacturing firm should ask Zipline to explain its GEO method. A dental practice should talk to Firegang.
Whichever you pick, ask for a before-and-after prompt test. Book a free AI visibility audit with Ravenna to see what ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity say about your business today.
